Accessibility and Multi Year Plan for Yahoo! Canada Co.

This Accessibility and Multi Year Plan outlines the plans and actions that Yahoo! Canada Co. ("Yahoo") will put in place to improve opportunities for people with disabilities.

STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT

We believe that accessibility is the key to inclusion and transforms possibilities into opportunities. It’s what enables anyone, young or old, tech savvy or tech novice, disabled or not, to say, "I can" instead of "I can’t." We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities, and will do so by preventing and removing barriers to accessibility and meeting accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

 

Accessible Emergency Information Status Compliance Date
Yahoo will provide customers with publicly available emergency information in an accessible way upon request. We will also provide employees with disabilities with individualized emergency response information when necessary. complete December 12, 2012
 
Training
Yahoo will provide training to employees, volunteers, persons who participate in developing policies and others who provide goods, services or facilities on behalf of Yahoo on Ontario’s accessibility laws and on the Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities. Training will be provided in a way that best suits the duties of employees, volunteers, persons who participate in developing policies and others who provide goods, services or facilities on behalf of Yahoo. ongoing December 2016 (estimated)
Yahoo will ensure that training is developed on the Customer Service Standard in accordance with the Integrated Accessibility Standard Regulation ("IASR"). Yahoo will take the necessary steps to make all new websites and content on those sites conform with WCAG 2.0, Level A by January 1, 2014 and conform with WCAG 2.0, Level AA by January 1, 2021:   Level A completed
 
Yahoo will take the following steps to make ensure existing feedback processes are accessible to people with disabilities upon request:
a) Conduct a review of all feedback processes; b) Upon request, to the extent practicable, provide for provision of accessible formats and communication supports for persons with disabilities   January 1, 2015
Yahoo will take the following steps to make sure all publicly available information is made accessible upon request by January 1, 2016:
a) Determine what accessible formats and communication supports we will provide to persons with disabilities b) Consult with person making the request to determine suitability of accessible format or communication support c) Include a statement on the website that we shall, upon request, provide or arrange for the provision of accessible formats and communication supports for persons with disabilities   August 1, 2016
 
Employment
We will take the following steps to notify the public and staff that, when requested, Yahoo will accommodate people with disabilities during the recruitment and assessment processes and when people are hired:
(a) We will inform applicants about the availability of accommodations: when called for an interview, during the selection process, at the time of the job offer and as soon as practicable after the new employee begins – specifically at orientation. complete July 19, 2016
(b) If a selected applicant requests accommodation, we will consult with the applicant and arrange for provision of suitable accommodation in a manner that takes into account the applicant's accessibility needs due to a disability. complete July 19, 2016

Yahoo will take the following steps to develop and put in place a process for developing individual accommodation plans and return-to-work policies for employees that have been absent due to a disability:
